Metal Panels Aid Metal Facades

Metal wall panels have long been recognized by contractors, architects and building owners as an attractive and durable choice for building façades. Over the years, the use of metal as exterior wall cladding has been increasing, largely due to the additional material and color selections that are available. Contractors appreciate the ease of installation and custom fabrication possibilities that metal panels offer. To get more news about Stainless steel green facade, you can visit mesh-fabrics official website.

Choices in metal continue to grow. In addition to aluminum, steel, copper, zinc, stainless steel, etc., the material finishes are also constantly evolving. From bare metal, to painted surfaces, to clear coatings, to anodized aluminum, to pigmented zinc, the opportunities are limitless. Metal panel options offer many choices, including single-skin panels, metal composite material (MCM) panels, and insulated metal panels (IMPs), all of which include a variety of attachment methods and trim systems to achieve different aesthetic appeal.

It is important to select a material type and system that is a good fit for each particular application on a building. Factors such as water, impact and fire resistance must be examined. Panel system weight, along with code requirements that must be met, should be evaluated. Color and finish options may be of key importance to the designer and/or building owner. A panel's ability to be curved in the field by the installer, or factory curved, along with other system details, could have an influence on the application execution. Project location and the logistics of panel delivery and installation also need to be considered.

Many wall panel systems are designed to be integrated into other profiles, or other system types. It is not uncommon to see façades with horizontally, vertically and even diagonally oriented profiles, in a combination of complementary and contrasting colors and finishes. Never before has there been such a wide variety of choices and possibilities to create an architectural masterpiece or a corporate image.
Metal panels are known for being a durable and exceptionally long-lasting material choice for use on roofs and walls. In addition to having a long life cycle and requiring minimal maintenance, many have pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content, and can be recycled at the end of their useful life.

LEED has changed the way we think about how buildings and communities are planned, constructed, maintained and operated. In addition to LEED, there are other green building rating systems, such as Green Globes and the Living Building Challenge, which are also being used to design and build structures that are environmentally friendly and energy efficient. Sustainably designed and constructed buildings are not only resource efficient; they save money. The use of metal wall and roof panels can contribute toward these goals.
Savings on building cooling costs can be achieved with cool paint pigmentation, which is used on many metal panels. This helps to reflect solar infrared radiation, allowing the color to appear the same while keeping the material cooler. Additional building energy savings can be achieved with the use of insulated metal wall panels, or single-skin metal wall panels combined with a continuous insulation system.

An innovative way to further increase energy savings is with the use of a transpired solar collector wall panel system. This is comprised of a precision perforated metal wall panel, which is mounted a few inches from the building's south-facing exterior wall. The perforations allow pre-heated surface air to be drawn through the face of the panel where it then rises between the two walls and enters the building's central ventilation system or supply fan. A transpired solar collector is ideal for commercial and industrial buildings that are seeking to reduce their energy costs, especially in colder climates during the heating season. Metal wall cladding systems will continue to evolve with the addition of new profiles, materials, colors, finishes, applications and fastening methods. This will result in even more creative, durable and sustainable building envelopes for future construction and renovation projects.
